From 23 September to 4 October, The Emerging Artists Exhibition presented by FAME Week Africa and the City of Cape Town’s Art and Culture branch will be taking place at the V&A Waterfront’s Link Mall Victoria Wharf Shopping Centre (between Sunglass Hut and Louis Vuitton).
A City of Cape Town initiative, The Emerging Artists programme is aimed at assisting under-resourced emerging artists based in Cape Town to access opportunities and build capacity that will assist in promoting their work, develop their careers, gain experience and most importantly an opportunity to create a platform for exposure.
‘As shown through the many programmes and initiatives to date, the City is committed to giving our emerging artists access to various platforms and opportunities. Not only does it give them the necessary tools and practical skills to help them leverage opportunities, but it also provides an opportunity to earn during what has been a very trying time for so many industries,’ said Mayoral Committee Member for Community Services and Health, Councillor Zahid Badroodien.
The exhibition will showcase the skill and artistry of 36 of Cape Town’s talented emerging artists with over 80 artworks all which are available to purchase. For more information on the artists and photographers who will be showcasing their work at the Emerging Artists Exhibition go to:
Martin Hiller, content + creative director of FAME Week Africa says: “The Emerging Artists Exhibition is the perfect prelude to FAME Week Africa taking place in the Host City of Cape Town from 3 – 5 October. FAME Week Africa is a safari of events celebrating Africa’s talent, innovation and creativity”.
In addition to the showcasing their artwork, the artists will be taking part in a workshop on the 5 October to help them develop their personal brand and equip them with the necessary skills to carve a successful career for themselves.
