Naeemah Petersen started drawing and painting at an early age. Having come from a creative family, art was something that was always supported and encouraged.
Having lived and worked in the UAE for nine years, she was fortunate enough to work with and live amongst people from all over the world. She is inspired by the different ways in which people navigate their mortality, and how there is ultimately a strange connective tissue that binds us all.
She works in various mediums, and covers subject matter relating to the world that surrounds us, and our perception of reality. Her work is informed by the relationships between light, colour, form and line while striving for simplicity and boldness in her compositions.
She currently works from her studio in Woodstock, Cape Town.
