Lauren Mitchell

Lauren Mitchell is a Cape Town-based journalist and self-taught photographer. Her journey into photography began at an early age when all she had was an early model camera phone. Over the years her photographs have the walls of Hartleyvale Stadium, the Lovell Gallery, the South African Sendinggestig Museum as well as the pages of the Cape Times and Cape Argus. Primarily her work focused on street and documentary photography, however, due to the pandemic, she found herself in front and behind the lens.

Selected artwork

The collection serves to highlight and celebrate the amazing Cape Town Ballroom culture. It also serves to pay homage to the late great Kirvan Le Cap, the original house mother of House of Le Cap.
